Halle Berry reveals that Drake used an image of her for his new single’s cover art after being denied permission by the actress herself.

Berry first hinted at her displeasure over the cover art of Drake and SZA’s “Slime You Out” single — which features a photo of Berry covered in green slime at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards — on social media on Saturday (Sept. 16).

“Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy… even if you’re a woman,” the 57-year-old posted on her account, with many attributing her statement to her image being used by the rapper. She then explained that Drake used the photo without receiving her blessing beforehand, voicing her disappointment in the hitmaker, who she says she “admired” prior to the incident.

“Didn’t get my permission. That’s not cool. I thought better of him!” the Academy Award-winner wrote in the comments, adding, “When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on.” Berry also responded to an Instagram user noting that the “photo is owned by Getty Images” and that the rapper likely “got their permission and paid the fee” required to use it.

However, the Hollywood vet said that Drake contacted her directly and asked for her permission to use the photo, a request she says she declined. However, the 36-year-old went behind her back and used the photo anyway, which she says was at the root of her anger with the rap star. “Cuz he asked me and I said NO that’s why,” Berry wrote. “Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do! That was the f**k you to me. Not cool. You get it?”

Released on Friday (Sept. 15), “Slime You Out” is the latest single from Drake’s forthcoming LP For All the Dogs, which is set to be released this Friday (Sept. 22). Drake posted the image of Berry on his own Instagram account on Thursday (Sept. 14), which has since received over two million likes on the platform.
